Chuck Morris Coastal Homes wins 3 awards for historical renovations
GALVESTON – Chuck Morris Coastal Homes has added three more awards to its long list of honors for building, renovation and remodeling work. The company was honored with awards from the Texas Association of Builders and the Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) for major renovation work on two homes featured on the 2014 GHF Homes Tour.
The Texas Association of Builders recognized the company for its work on the 1929 McNabb/Patterson house with Star Awards for Best Whole House Renovation, $150,000-$200,000, and Best Outdoor Living Space, under $100,000. The awards were announced at the Texas Association of Builders annual ceremony this summer in San Antonio.
GHF presented owners Chuck and Debbie Morris with the Sally B. Wallace Preservation Award for restoration of the 1875 Ruhl House in Galveston’s East End Historical District. The complete renovation included a unique 2-story widow’s walk, 3-story walnut staircase, custom kitchen, and antique and vintage lighting throughout. The award was presented on Aug. 24 at GHF’s annual awards ceremony in Galveston.
The Texas Association of Builders recognized Chuck Morris Coastal Homes for its remodeling work on the Ruhl Home and McNabb/Patterson house as a finalist in the following eight categories:

- Best Historic Renovation
- Best Whole House Renovation, $500,000-$800,000
- Best Kitchen Renovation, $65,000-$100,000
- Best Bathroom Renovation, $30,000-$50,000
- Best Specialty Room
The McNabb home was designed and built by renowned residential architect John F. Staub, famous for Bayou Bend, a mansion built for oil heiress Ima Hogg and now a Houston house museum.
Texas Association of Builders has presented the awards annually since 1992 to recognize the outstanding work of builders, remodelers, architects, designers, sales professionals, marketing professionals, construction professionals and industry leaders in Texas and the Southwest.
